As a copy editor, I provided the client with quality assurance on over 100 lessons and activities in preparation for a new social studies program launch. The thoroughly researched lessons included virtual field trips, discussion boards, video content, interactive games, and informational slides that needed to be edited and reviewed. My attention to detail and clear communication supported the client as they launched their updated program with new content and a new style guide.
Met with the project manager to understand the project scope and timeline.
Studied the in-house style guide, including the project color palette and codes, visual formatting, text style, and conventions of grammar, punctuation, and capitalization.
Used the internal tracking system to identify and access ready-for-review content.
Compared digital components to the original scripts to ensure accuracy and fix script errors.
Communicated with script-writers and SMEs to resolve unclear wording or discrepancies.
Communicated with the digital production team to resolve style and formatting errors, add missing content, insert correct answer keys, and update broken links.
Returned components with edit sheets to digital production for fixes and approved or returned updated content.
Updated the internal tacking system to move deliverables to their final stage for publication.
After final review, the concise and visually aligned lessons were published to the client's content hub, which is used by thousands of schools and districts. The ready-to-launch lessons and activities provide teachers with engaging content to present in a classroom setting or to have students complete asynchronously.
