Toward Culturally Sustaining Education for All Learners
Curriculum Writing, Reviewing, and Consulting

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Personal Journey
Since my first day of kindergarten, I knew I wanted to be an educator. After tutoring and conducting corporate training during my undergraduate studies, I officially started my K-12 career and have since gained experience teaching English Language Arts in every grade level (and even to adults!). The seven years I spent in the classroom developing ELA and SEL curricula with multilingual learners sparked my passion for creating culturally sustaining resources for teachers and students. Now, it is my joy to dedicate my full attention to that aim.

MY APPROACH
Weaving together culturally sustaining pedagogy, backward design, and project-based learning, the curricula I write begin with two basic questions:
-
Through this experience, how will students learn about themselves, the world around them, and the role they'd like to play in shaping the future?
-
Through this experience, what authentic skills and personal intelligence will learners develop?
No matter what subject the content falls under (English Language Arts, Media Literacy, Social Emotional Learning, etc.), I begin with these questions and strive to center criticality and student voice.
